Time and again you read or hear that it is legally unproblematic to carry small amounts of illegal substances. This statement is particularly common in connection with cannabis.
"For your own use you may possess cannabis." "As long as you don't exceed the limit, nothing will happen to you."
But is that really true? First of all: no. No matter how much of a substance you possess: If it is included in the SMG, even possession of the smallest quantities is a criminal offence and will result in charges being brought!

🌐 31.03 is the international drug checking day - TEDI (Trans-European Drug Information Network) has written a paper about the context driving the need for drug checking services and decided to publish it to mark the occasion. 💊 📊
Drug markets can move quickly and unpredictably. At the moment the TEDI network has deep concerns that highly potent and pharmacologically diverse substances may enter the European drug market to an unknown extent. Therefore, the maintenance, implementation, and expansion of various harm reduction interventions and their adaptation to the new challenges, is necessary to reduce the risk of a public health crisis. By ensuring that a wide range of harm reduction interventions such as Drug Checking Services and Drug Consumption Rooms are available and accessible, we can ensure regular contact with people who use drugs, target harm reduction measures and strengthen market monitoring efforts by increasing the number of opportunities to obtain samples for analysis.
If you want to read the whole text you`ll find the link in @tedi.network`s Bio.

Benzodiazepines (also known as "benzos") are drugs used to treat anxiety and sleep disorders. Benzodiazepines have a broad spectrum of effects. They have an anxiolytic, sedative, muscle-relaxing, anticonvulsant and sleep-inducing effect.
❗️ Risks - Rapid tolerance build-up: more and more is needed to achieve the desired effect - Strong psychological and physical dependence - An overdose can lead to disinhibited behaviour as well as drowsiness and even unconsciousness
⚠ Danger to life! If you consume benzodiazepines and other "downers" (e.g. alcohol, GHB or opioids) at the same time or in quick succession, your breathing can slow down considerably. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to respiratory arrest and death.
💊 Black market Even if the appearance of the tablet or the packaging looks very similar to the original, you never know what ingredients you are dealing with when buying benzodiazepines from the black market.
‼️ We strongly advise against the use of untested benzodiazepines that have not been prescribed by a doctor ‼️
💡 Risk reduction: - Have benzos from the darknet or from the street analysed by a drug checker! - Only take benzodiazepines prescribed by a doctor from the pharmacy. - High risk of addiction! With benzos, stick to the prescription and avoid prolonged use. - Warning: Danger to life! Mixed consumption with alcohol or other downers (e.g. GHB, opioids) can lead to respiratory depression and even respiratory paralysis. - Take care of each other! -Call the emergency services (144) if you or someone else is not feeling well after using it.
If you have any questions, please contact the checkit team, whose contact details can be found in the link tree.

Before New Year's Eve, we would like to offer you the opportunity to use our drug checking service. You can hand in your substances for analysis at homebase and receive the results the same evening.
📍Where: checkit! homebase (Gumpendorfer Straße 8, 1060 Vienna)
🕓 When: Friday, 29.12.2023 Sample delivery from 16:00 - 21:30
💬 Result query: in person or by telephone until 22:45
Important information: - A maximum of 2 samples per person can be submitted for analysis - Cannabis products cannot be analysed during the New Year's Eve check
Edibles are edible cannabis products that contain THC and/or CBD. For example, in the form of sweets such as gummy bears and chocolate or as drinks.
There are also edibles on the market that contain semi-synthetic or purely synthetic cannabinoids, for example. Their effect can be many times stronger than that of THC.
⚠ RISKS When consuming edibles, the active ingredients are absorbed more slowly than when smoking. The effects occur later and last longer. This makes dosing more difficult.
It is not clear from the packaging which active ingredients are actually present and in what quantity. This makes dosing and achieving the desired effect even more difficult.
As many products are sold as sweets such as gummy bears or chocolate, there is a great risk of confusion. This poses a major risk for children in particular.
‼️ Unwitting consumption can have serious health consequences.
💡 RISK REDUCTION If you decide to consume despite the health and legal risks, please note the following:
- Consume only small amounts and wait for the effect (at least one hour). - Avoid mixed consumption with other psychoactive substances (including alcohol). - Do not consume alone. - Only consume when you are feeling well, in a place where you feel comfortable and with people you trust. - Look out for each other! Talk to friends if someone is not feeling well and don't hesitate to get help. - Keep the products out of reach of other people.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the checkit! team. You can find our contact details on our website (link in the link tree).
