Current warnings August 2013

Since the beginning of August, we have tested a number of substances that pose a health risk. In a sample submitted for analysis as speed, the new synthetic substance 4-Methylamphetamine has been proven. Medical emergencies - some of them fatal - have already occurred in Europe in connection with this substance.  have arrived.

Under the following link, all samples that have been submitted to checkit! analysed and classified as high-dose, unexpected or of particular health concern.

Warnings August 2013

Attention! Pill with PMMA found in NL

Pills sold as ecstasy have surfaced in the Netherlands which, instead of the expected active ingredient MDMAthe substance of particular health concern PMMA included. Info about PMMA you will find here. The pills are pink and have a mirror-inverted question mark as a logo (see picture). (source)

We advise against the consumption of untested substances - and this pill in particular!

If, despite the increased health risks consume untested substances, test carefully and wait at least two hours before you "top up"!

Current warnings July 2013

Since the beginning of July checkit! tested a number of substances of health concern. Among other things, four alleged speed samples were again found to contain the new psychoactive substance 4-Methylamphetamine (4-MA) identified. In addition to amphetamine and caffeine, each sample contained 4-MA in varying doses (up to 228 milligrams per gram). As several deaths have already occurred throughout Europe in connection with the consumption of 4-MA, we strongly advise against its use! In addition, a substance brought for analysis as MDMA in powder form contained the ketamine derivative Methoxetamine found. Deaths have also been reported in connection with the consumption of methoxetamine. Due to these facts and because an unexpected dissociative effect can be very unpleasant under certain circumstances, we strongly advise caution.

All warnings and unexpected results in detail you will find here.

4-methylamphetamine in speed and methoxetamine in MDMA

At the weekend, checkit! once again tested the new synthetic substance 4-Methylamphetamine (4-MA) in four alleged speed samples identified. In addition to amphetamine and caffeine, each sample also contained the phenethylamine 4-MA in moderate doses ranging from 76 mg/g to high doses of 228 mg/g.

4-MA is a hitherto very unexplored substance about which there is hardly any information. Poisoning and unexplained deaths have already occurred in Europe in connection with the consumption of 4-MA. It is therefore difficult to assess how toxic the substance is and at what dosage it poses a serious health risk. For this reason, we strongly advise against consumption!

We also have in a form known as MDMA in powder form analysed is the ketamine derivative Methoxetamine found. Methoxetamine is also a new synthetic substance about whose risks, long-term effects and toxicity there is little or no scientific knowledge to date. The effect is similar to that of ketamine, but according to user reports it lasts longer and is very dose-dependent. Some users report an ecstasy-like effect shortly after taking the drug. The dissociative effect sets in later and rather abruptly - especially at higher doses. In August last year, a death was reported here in Vienna in connection with a methoxetamine overdose. The exact reasons for this have not been clarified, but deaths in connection with methoxetamine have also been reported in other European countries. Due to these facts and because an unexpected dissociative effect can be very unpleasant under certain circumstances, we strongly advise caution.

If you decide to use MDMA or speed despite the health and legal risks, have your substances tested! If this is not possible, start slowly, don't add immediately and refrain from the additional consumption of other psychoactive substances!

Current warnings June 2013

Since the beginning of June checkit! A number of substances of health concern were tested: among other things, a tablet sold as ecstasy was again found to contain the new synthetic substance Methoxetamine identified. A small amount of methoxetamine was also found in a sample sold as speed. In addition, a trace of the new synthetic substance 4-Methylamphetamine has been proven. There have already been medical emergencies in Europe in connection with the consumption of both substances, some of which have resulted in death. You can find more information on the substances and all other warnings and unexpected results here here.

We would like to take this finding as an opportunity to emphasise the importance of analysis: If you decide to use synthetic substances despite the legal and health risks, have your substances tested! If this is not possible, start slowly, wait for the effects and don't take more straight away! Also avoid mixed consumption, as the combination of two or more substances within a short period of time leads to particularly high levels of stress for the body and mind and increases the risk of dangerous incidents.

Current warnings April 2013

During the last drug checking mission, checkit! had to warn against some very high-dose ecstasy tablets, among other things. You can find all the unexpected, high-dose and particularly dangerous results here here for further reading.

25I-NBOMe sold as LSD

checkit! tested three supposed LSD trips at the last event (see picture below), on which a previously unknown substance was detected. As the subsequent analysis revealed, this substance is the new synthetic substance 25I-NBOMe.

25I-NBOMe is chemically related to the hallucinogenic phenetylamine 2C-I. To date, the substance has appeared in various European countries on LSD trips, but also in powder form. At the beginning of this year, seven young men were hospitalised in Great Britain with symptoms of an overdose (palpitations, increased blood pressure, cramps, high fever, involuntary muscle contractions, etc.), all of whom, as it turned out, had consumed 25I-NBOMe. Two people had to be treated in intensive care and one person was treated for kidney failure.

As with all new synthetic substances, there is hardly any information on the mode of action and dose of 25I-NBOMe. The effects of the substance appear to be highly dose-dependent and are in the microgram range (= one millionth of a gram). This means that a visual estimation of the dosage is hardly possible and overdoses can easily occur. The substance appears to have a stronger effect than LSD and can also be absorbed through the skin.

Given the occasion, we therefore advise you - if you decide to consume supposed LSD despite the legal and health risks - to have your trip tested! If you knowingly decide to consume 25I-NBOMe, dose extremely carefully, wait for the effects and don't top up straight away!

Current warnings March 2013

Since the beginning of the month, we have again tested a number of substances that pose a health risk. You can find a detailed description of all the high-dose, unexpected and particularly worrying results here here.

Current warnings February 2013 - Part 2

As can be seen from the last news report, we have once again analysed a PMA - Fund made. Apart from this, we also had to warn against some high-dose ecstasy tablets as well as alleged MDMA, speed and cocaine samples in which various ingredients were identified. One detailed description all unexpected, high-dose and particularly harmful results you will find here.

PMMA in XTC

Our colleagues from Safer Party from Switzerland have once again identified paramethoxymethamphetamine (PMMA) in an ecstasy tablet. These are two tablets, both of which also contain MDMA also PMMA contained. The logo of the tablets in question is the Toyota - symbol. The exact description of the tablets and further information can be found here.

There are currently repeated PMMA/PMA warnings throughout Europe - we have already found PMA in various substances twice this year. If you decide to consume synthetic substances - despite the health and legal risks, Have your substances tested! If this is not possible, follow the safer use rules: test carefully, wait for the effect, don't top up straight away! You can find more information on PMA/PMMA here here.
